Some details…

Voice is born, coordinated, and constantly modulated by the breathing process so that the tones we produce are intrinsically related to the way we inhale and exhale. This is the foundation of the voice: the study of breathing and how it changes the quality of phonation.

Based on this thought, we will look for the relationship between air and sound in speaking and singing. We will look for how to activate our sound in a relaxed manner as well as how to manage breathing  without straining our vocal cords during the synergy between body, sound and air.

The seminar will be based on the following:

- Posture, alignment and body relaxation.

- Breathing awareness during the phases of voice activation and relaxation.

- Breathing release: Diaphragmatic  exercises in order to rediscover the diaphragm’s flexibility, mobility and relaxation .

- The connection between sound and diaphragm : we will work on this by using text and song.

This workshop is addressed to those who are interested to learn more about their voice and to those who are already working with it: story tellers, singers, parents, students, teachers, actors, public speakers … and those over the age of 14.

Accommodation is available.

On Friday the 29th of January 2016, 21:00 Lamia will present a Narration Performance

Tales of the Arab world and the Western world

Love, sacrifice, jealousy, magic, trials, metamorphosis are all elements of fairy tales, both in the Arabic and the Western world. These fairy tales talk of magical worlds subject to laws that are different to those of the real world, and where time flows at a different pace. But they are worlds that touch our emotions, our fears and our hopes.
