The village of Sgombou lies in a peaceful valley surrounded by hills, far from other tourist sites, but right in the centre of the island; a short walk brings you to the local shop and bus-stop; from here it is 3 kilometres to the nearest beach, 12 kilometres either to Corfu town on the east coast, or to Paleocastritsa on the west coast.

The surrounding meadows have been transformed into beautiful gardens which gradually blend in with the original olives, cypress, quince and Judas trees. Bougainvillea, roses, geranium, citrus, peach, fig and apricot flourish around green lawns; bignonia, jasmine and vines provide fragrant shade and screen the swimming pool, which has been recently restored with mosaics.
Their daughter, Zoe Androutsopoulou, a dancer, has now returned to Corfu with her partner, Marcello Windolph, a musician, and together they have established the project Estia at Casa Lucia, whose aim is to bring artists and performers for workshops and concerts, thus expanding the centre already established for yoga, t'ai chi and many alternative therapies.
Casa Lucia is unusual in that it
draws people from all walks of life, from all countries and all ages: many
friendships have been forged here, people come back year after year, children
have grown up and return with their children. It is above all a peaceful place
that has few rules and allows people to relax and leave their frantic world
behind - the grass is to play on, the swimming pool is for swimming by night
and day, the cats and dogs come to visit. Come and relax and do your own thing;
or try the t'ai chi, yoga, alternative therapies and massages that are available.
